How to Make an Animated GIF - Beginner Guide

Did you ever wonder how people make those animated GIF's that you have seen on Tumblr, Facebook or on a blog? Well, it is very easy to do. All you have to do is follow the step by step guide that I included below.

How to Make an Animated GIF

Seven Easy Steps

1. Find a video to download, or choose one of your own from your computer.
   
2. Open up Photoshop (or a similar imaging editing software), then choose File ... Import ... Import Video ... Import Video Frames Into Layers.
   
3. Look for “Selected Range,” then click it. You can drag the arrow head around to get a starting point. Hold Shift and tick the arrow point to make a selection. This will be what we use for your animated GIF.
   
4. If you’d like, you can choose Window ... Animation to show all the frames in your animation. You can move them around, add text or whatever you want.
   
5. Once you’re happy, choose File ... Save for Web and Devices.
   
6. Make sure the file type is a GIF, and the colors are set to 256 colors.
   
7. Save that GIF and upload it to your favorite blog, Facebook, Tumblr or your favorite social media site!
